Round table discussions, conclusions

An international conference "First Steps in Teaching Foreign Language" organized by Vit? Basic School convened a group of speakers both from Lithuania and Project partner countries. English teachers from different Lithuanian schools shared their experience in teaching Enlish as the first foreign language, presented the most successful teaching methods and games. An informative report was delivered by the guest from Spain, a teacher of English, Christina Vouros, who presented the experience of bilingual teaching at Ceip Montecanal school. All speakers emphasized the importance of learning a foreign language through active teaching methods, taking into account pupils' abilities and experience. Symbolically, the Project meeting coincided with the European Day of Languages. On this occasion, senior pupils and class teachers invited foreign guests to a school event, where they presented all the countries involved in the project and their official languages. All participants had to learn as many words or phrases as possible in an unknown language. We also recalled the "language" of animals, which sounds different in all countries. We all once again became convinced that foreign language knowledge is a huge asset, opening the door to an endless journey of life.

During the Project meetings essential questions were discussed, such as final products of the Project (methodology files and tutorial films, vocabulary), Project website issues, forthcoming activities etc.

Klaip?da Vit? Basic School organized meaningful activities for the participants of the project - the guests visited the Curonian Spit, Palanga, the Cold War Museum in ?emaitija National Park, and became acquainted with the history of Klaip?da Old Town.
